THE CAKEFAERIE

'The CakeFaerie' consists of delivering biscuits/cakes to our other members as a means of meeting them. Email Altwelcome-general *at* srcf.net ! for more.

This activity is obviously 100 percent harmless and 1000 percent friendly. We have a few Rules to smoothly ensure this, that you must read in order to participate... If in doubt, ask the Great CakeFaeries In The Sky (persons appointed to oversee this). In last term's Game of Thrones themed game, we indeed had enough CakeFaeries for Seven Kingdoms' worth of CakeFaeries. (That's seven geographical zones in which CakeFaeries Cake nearby other CakeFaeries). This term's theme is Siblings, Silliness and Swashbuckling ^_^ These all begin with `S' because we are all Safer Spaces ^_^

What we do is as follows.

0) SIGN-UPS. You can join in too by emailing the Great CakeFaeries (Altwelcome-general *at* srcf.net) your

* Name:

* Address and/or Where in college your pigeonhole is:

* Notes: mention Allergies here, or whether you are a Vegetarian or Vegan. To a certain extent, comments like "No Custard Creams" or "I Haaaate Raisins!" will be considered.

* Whether you're providing your own CakeFaerie Sibling (see below; they have to sign up themselves as a CakeFaerie for this term).

* Whether you want your Cakeing to be, optionally, accompanied by Silliness and/or by Swashbuckling (see below).

There is no deadline for joining :)

1) The Great CakeFaeries In The Sky will sometimes SUGGEST you CakeFaerie specific others. Your doing so is ENTIRELY VOLUNTARY :) Though, if you do carry out the suggested delivery, you should very briefly notify the Great CakeFaeries so that they don't need to summon further CakeFaeries to that particular address at that particular point in time.

2) You deliver to the person's hand, to their door as per below, or to their pigeonhole with a "from The CakeFaerie" note (we now send our participants printable CakeFaerie Notes for you to write on the reverse of!)

3) If you do carry out some of the Suggestions, you are known as an Active CakeFaerie. You may then be awarded your own Wand to carry during missions! And Active CakeFaeries sometimes go round CakeFaerie-ing in 2's or 3's. Moreover, we note that as a society we are strong on passive participants' rights to get a good deal out of activities. So. You are very welcome to be part of us, regardless of whether you are an Active CakeFaerie :)

4) For this Lent Edition of the CakeFaerie, Participants will get:

* a fortnightly Suggestion for whom to CakeFaerie.

* a CakeFaerie Sibling: another CakeFaerie who gets the same suggestions as to whom to CakeFaerie.

* The option for the Cake to be accompanied with brief Silliness. This has been described as

"Silliness-in-person is Fluffy-Toy, Silly-Voice and/or Children's-Book based. A person bearing some of these things shall bring you a Cake, or perhaps 'help their Fluffly Unicorn Companion' do so :) Such surprise visits are at most 5 minutes long. If you only specify a pigeonhole address, well, you can still get a Silly Rhyme with your cake, or the occasional gift of a Fluffy Toy Sidekick :)"

* The separate option of Cake accompanied by Swashbuckling.

"Here people offer each other Cake at Duel Challenges with safe and non-alarming toy weaponry, to be done solely off Uni Property. Right now, this means a CSSW-rules WaterPistol Duel, though we might (with time and demand) consider expanding on the range of safe and unalarming toy weapons in use for such duels. For those doing this option, a number of waterpistols are available for borrowing for the term :) Duels are to take no longer than half an hour unless all involved wish for more."

Before Duelling or issuing any Duel Challenges, Swashbuckling participants must read the additional Ruleset for it, which will appear HERE. For now, here are Cambridge Safer Space Waterfighting's Rules .

[Silliness and Swashbuckling are in collaboration with two other Safer Space Societies: Sheila and her Dog and Cambridge Safer Space Waterfighting respectively. Sibling allocation will parallel who's doing Silliness, Swashbuckling, both or neither. Suggestions of whom to CakeFaerie will sometimes match a Sibling Pair's Silliness and Swashbuckling Status, and sometimes stipulate "Cake only". Reminder that the CakeFaerie is considerate and inclusive: one is not to do Silliness toward, or issue Swashbuckling Challenges to, CakeFaeries who have not asked for these options. Neither Silliness nor Swashbuckling constitute any kind of reason to disturb or alarm neighbours, passers-by or authority figures. CakeFaeries are considerate and discreet little Magical Beings ^_^ ]
