WHAT IS THE TEMPLE OF THE SMALL GODS ?

1) We are a repository for Lighter-Hearted Societies that saw, or might well see, Welcome/Welfare use, but that aren't currently open, e.g. due to low numbers or because the number of know ideas exceeds the population of Soc Organizers and Soc Participants.

2) These Socs are here as a reserve for difficult times, or for times of bliss as regards organizer numbers.

3) We sometimes include small amounts of these Socs' activities at our group's, or members' personal, parties, so the populace remains aware of them. This sometimes leads to some such Soc being re-opened by new interested folks.

We will perform very essential basic maintenance on Lighter-Hearted Soc websites that have been neglected, so they don't do things like prominently announce their *2007* Squash as "this year's". We will teach new soc-administrators a) a minimum set of online moves so that they can be self-sufficient. b) a minimum set of low-budget logistics moves and c) a minimum set of new-person-welcoming moves. Each of these are available *separately* upon request each of these on request and subject to availability of Alt-Welcome/SOFTPOMS Instructors in these matters. This way those who do wish to maintain/re-start some socs can more or less do so rather than being stuck.

4) Item a) is furthemore also part of a movement to stop *compscis and other computer-savvy peoples* from insidiously taking over too high a proportion of the uni's so-called unofficial societies. See here

* Crocsoc, who make cardboard crocodiles and paint them green; this is a nice laid-back activity.

* We're currently being helpful toward the Pembroke College Winnie-the-Pooh Society .
