This is for reliability of their being there and of their being familiar with the society and given some leeway.
A Target Person is up for showing people round. That involves answering questions about the event, but more so introducing the new person to the rest of the soc-organizers present, to other new people present and to any additional Alternatve Welfare people present.
(The last of these may be able to share the load of welcoming new arrivals, that's an Activate move.)
There are three strengths of deployment.
Firstly, the Target Person may keep an eye open for new people, for people not talking to others in looser social parts of the event.
Secondly, The Target Person may agree to be Named by other Alternative Welfare people recommending their Soc, in the ``IF YOU GO TO XSOC, ASK FOR MARTHA and she will answer questions about the event, but more so introducing the new person to the rest of the soc-organizers present, to other new people present and to any additional Alternatve Welfare people present" format. This is stronger as regards increasing the chances for somebody who's been repeatedly left out on previous tries at Socs getting some positive contact. This is valuable in cases where despair is setting in, either by the repeated inconsideratenesses of the random Socs the person had previously tried, or if the person is elsewise in a bad situation such as being in danger of degrading or suicide, or being bereaved, bullied or badly heartbroken. Because of this, other welfare conduits may well wish to Activate Alternative Welfare in this way.
Thirdly, some of us may offer unto people under our protection to go with them to socmeets they particularly wish to try. That has the advantage of being able to go rather beyond where we have Target Persons, though of course it uses up a lot of time and may only be activable on a fairly slow timescale. It may be seen as a last line of defense, though it may sometimes happen to be more freely available (not least when the Alternative Welfare person happens to be going to that soc of their own accord anyway.
